How this matchup plays

Trying to channel Life Drain against a Witch Doctor is always a risk. His Paralyzing Cask provides a common and reliable way to interrupt Pugna's most important spell, which is crucial for both healing and damage. This interaction defines the matchup from the laning stage onward. While Pugna's Nether Ward does punish Witch Doctor for using his spells, a well-placed stun can shut Pugna down before the Ward gets much value. The constant threat of being cancelled makes it difficult for Pugna to play aggressively and sustain himself.

In larger fights, Pugna is forced to play from the edges, often waiting for the Cask to be used before he can safely commit.
