Spectre vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

Getting caught alone is a death sentence for Witch Doctor. Spectre's Haunt allows her to bypass the entire enemy team and appear right on top of him, making it incredibly risky to channel Death Ward. Even a Spectre illusion can interrupt the spell or force him to move. If he’s isolated from his allies, Desolate melts his low health pool. Spectre's own durability from Dispersion also means that any damage Witch Doctor manages to inflict before dying is partially reflected, making the trade even worse for him.

Witch Doctor has a strong window to control the game early, punishing Spectre's weak laning phase to build a lead his team can use. Once Spectre gets Haunt, the map becomes much smaller for him. Every teamfight forces the Witch Doctor to play with extreme caution, often needing a Glimmer Cape or Force Staff to survive the initial jump. Spectre's goal is to weather the early aggression, farm her core items, and then use Haunt to repeatedly pick off key backline heroes to create an advantage.
