Anti-Mage vs Oracle

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can lock down an Anti-Mage with single-target spells is often a mistake. A well-timed Counterspell can turn Oracle's entire combo back on him or his allies, creating chaos instead of a kill. Even if Oracle avoids that, he's a prime target for Mana Void. His constant spellcasting to keep teammates alive leaves him with a low mana pool, making him a walking bomb once Anti-Mage blinks in. This gives AM a way to consistently threaten a key enemy support in the mid to late game.

This isn't a free game for Anti-Mage, though. A smart Oracle will try to bait out the spell shield with Fortune's End before committing his other abilities. False Promise is still one of the best saves in the game and can prevent a Mana Void kill on a core, even if Oracle himself is the one being jumped. The fight often comes down to whether Anti-Mage can get on top of Oracle before he can get his ultimate off, or if the Oracle can play patiently and wait out the Counterspell. It's a timing game that leans slightly toward the carry.
