Oracle vs Phantom Lancer

How this matchup plays

Assuming Oracle's Fortune's End is a reliable answer to Phantom Lancer is a common trap. The channel time gives PL ample warning to use Doppelganger, making the root very difficult to land on the real hero. Oracle's main save, False Promise, also struggles against PL's sustained pressure. A farmed Phantom Lancer can create so many illusions that they can burn a target's mana and kill them through the ultimate, especially with team follow-up. While Fate's Edict can disarm the main PL, his many illusions will continue to attack, reducing the spell's impact.

Early on, Oracle can definitely pressure a weak Phantom Lancer and disrupt his farm. As the game progresses and PL gets his core items, however, the situation becomes much harder for Oracle. His single-target spells become less effective when he can't identify the real hero in a chaotic fight. A successful Oracle has to play defensively, stick to a core who has illusion clear, and use False Promise to counter the initial jump. For PL, the plan is to create confusion and use his mobility to dodge Oracle's spells before committing to a kill on a vulnerable hero.
