Oracle vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

Saving an ally from a full Witch Doctor combo is a test of reaction speed. Oracle has a disarm for Death Ward and a strong dispel for any buffs. Most importantly, False Promise can save someone caught by Maledict and a stun. The timing here is critical, though. If Maledict lands on a hero before they receive False Promise, the curse's amplified damage can still kill them when Oracle's ultimate ends. This creates a tense interaction where a split-second decision dictates whether the save works or fails spectacularly.

Throughout the game, the dynamic is about initiation versus counter-initiation. The Witch Doctor player is always looking for an angle to hide and channel a full Death Ward, hoping to force out Oracle's spells early or on the wrong target. Meanwhile, Oracle wants to stay back, holding Fate's Edict for the channel and keeping an eye on who gets cursed. The outcome of fights often depends on which of these two gets caught out of position first, as losing either one leaves their team completely vulnerable to the other's ultimate.
